Once the design is confirmed by the customer I print out the template onto thin card.
I then cut the letters, pictures etc out with a scalpel or similar sharp blade.
The template is then placed onto the stone and with a very sharp point I etch the design onto the stone.
I then engrave out by using a Dremel.
|I used the old fixing points and used them to make hanging holes on the reverse of the new stones so they were not visible and didnt detract from the finished design!!
The customer wanted to update her old signs.....
So we decided on a Mussel shape as the new name suggested!
Being a Marine Biologist I said wouldn't 2 look good as they are bi-valves (2 shells)?
So I found 2 large beach washed Devonian Mudstones and cut them to shape, added some detail and engraved the letters in and painted!
